The Taiwan Venture Capital
Association (tvca) was borne of its predecessor, the
Taipei Venture Capital Association, a non-profit
organization founded on April 17, 1992. It was
comprised of the 22 venture funds registered in
Taipei. Wen C. Ko, chairman of WK Technology Fund, was
the Taipei Venture Capital Association¡¦s first
chairman, followed by Ding-Hua Hu, chairman of Chien
Kung Venture Capital Corporation, and Paul Wang,
chairman of Chinatrust Venture Capital Co., Ltd.
1997, the number of venture funds in Taiwan had grown
to 72; apart from funds registered in Taipei, three
others had been established in Hsinchu. Therefore, in
order to better serve the nation¡¦s venture
enterprises, it was decided in 1998 to apply with the
Ministry of the Interior to change the nature of the
Association into a national organization.
The Taiwan Venture Capital Association was officially
established on May 20, 1999. Paul Wang, chairman of
Chinatrust Venture Capital Co., Ltd., was elected as
tvca¡¦s Chairman, and was re-elected as Chairman at
tvca¡¦s Annual Meeting on April 2, 2002.
As of the end of 2001, the tvca has 176 venture fund
members, managed by a total of 79 venture capital
firms, with total paid-in capital exceeding NT$134.1
billion. The tvca¡¦s Board of Directors is comprised of
30 directors and 9 supervisors. |
